Its first part was published at the beginning of 1605 with the title of The ingenious gentleman don Quixote of La Mancha. His author was Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.The second part was published in 1615 with the title The ingenious knight don Quixote of La Mancha.

This is the most outstanding work of Spanish literature at universal level. It is, after the Bible, the most translated story of all times.

It is one of the first works that managed to demystify the chivalrous and courteous tradition for its burlesque treatment.
It exerted an enormous influence on the entire European narrative.

The novel presents a poor gentleman who, after reading a lot of books of chivalry, goes crazy and thinks he is a medieval knight.The plot of the book is the adventures of this gentleman, don Quixote and his neighbor Sancho Panza, playing the rol of  squire.
